Autonomy Connected Backup as a service

How does Connected Backup as a service work?

  • Get predictable costs through a fixed price per user and month.
  • Highest possible security with secure datacenters and full redundancy – all data is encrypted before transfer and kept encrypted throughout the transfer, storage and recovery processes.
  • Fully automated backup running in the background without interrupting or disturbing the user.
  • Simple and easy to get started – your data can be protected from the day you decide to use online backup!
  • Easy to restore lost data.
  • Full flexibility – easy and quick to adjust if you need to change the number of units to be backed up.
  • Frees up time for existing IT staff to work with your business critical applications.
  • No maintenance, no hardware investments, always updated and guaranteed uptime.
  • Delivered with a service-level agreement (SLA) governing the guaranteed availability.
  • Climate impact is less with larger data centers.

Why do so many companies run their backup solutions in-house?

  • They have dedicated IT staff.
  • They have always done it like that.
  • They don't know about other options, and even less about how they might work.
  • They trust it to be the safest and most secure way of doing it.

What happens if we decide to buy backup as a service?

  • We will agree on a delivery plan that includes a date on which will start the delivery, the number of units to be backed up, and the size of each backup.
  • The initial backup session will run once a client has been installed on selected PCs and configured for backup. A copy of each selected file and directory is compressed and encrypted before being securely transferred to storage in an external data center where they create the foundation for future backups and restores. The initial backup will run until it is completed. If it stops, for any reason, it will automatically restart from where it was before the interruption.
  • Only changes within a file or a directory and new files/folders will be backed after the initial backup. This makes the process efficient and simultaneously minimizes the use of bandwidth.

What is the difference between different online backup services?

Answer: The main difference between Autonomy Connected Backup and other online backup services is that the Autonomy service has a limited retention time – which effectively keeps the need for storage space (GB) to a minimum. Other services stores all data indefinitely, so that storage space must be increased gradually and the service thus becomes gradually more expensive.
